$100M Entertainment Complex Opens in Arizona

Glimcher Ventures Southwest has unveiled its new $100 million mixed-use entertainment complex, The Boulevard, in Surprise, Ariz. Glimcher opened the doors on the new project with the opening this week of anchor tenant UltraStar Cinemas. The Boulevard (pictured) features 250,000 square feet of entertainment venues, retail shops and restaurants. Previously dubbed the Shoppes at Surprise Pointe, The Boulevard is a new brand of mixed-use entertainment centers by Glimcher that will focus on bringing together tenants with unique and successful entertainment concepts into an open-air, pedestrian-friendly setting to create a central destination. “Look at how Warren Buffet does things. His main time in buying business is during a down economy,” David Glimcher, president & CEO of Glimcher Ventures Southwest, told CPN on Jan. 18 as to why now is a good time to invest in restaurants and entertainment projects. The anchor of The Boulevard’s second phase, opening in November, is the recently announced Boulevard 300, a new multi-faceted entertainment venue slated for rollout in the Arizona market over the next two years. The Boulevard location will be the first for the brand. With construction already started, Boulevard 300 incorporates 42 bowling lanes, a laser tag arena, a video game arcade and a restaurant. The center broke ground in May 2007 with final completion expected towards the end of 2008. In addition to The Boulevard, Glimcher has plans in the works for a new mixed-use development, Baseline Marketplace, in Mesa, Ariz. The $100 million, 52-acre project will consist of retail shops, restaurants, office space and a multi-family residential development with over 350 units built by Trillium Development. Completion is expected in 2009.
