Atlanta—Anthem Inc., one of the leading health benefits companies in the U.S., has announced the establishment of an Information Technology hub in midtown Atlanta, which will create roughly 1,800 IT-related jobs.
As reported by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the company will take over at least three floors at Bank of America Plaza, the tallest skyscraper in Atlanta, and will invest $20 million in the software development center. In addition, the location of the new facility will boost cooperation between the IT hub and the recently opened Anthem Innovation Studio in Tech Square. The establishment of the new hub falls in line with the company’s strategy to enhance customer access to high-quality, affordable healthcare through a next-generation IT strategy focusing on modernization, digitization and innovation. In this way, Anthem is creating a collective IT workforce environment in Atlanta.
“For more than 75 years, Anthem companies have invested in the Georgia workforce. Atlanta has become known as an innovation hotbed, with research facilities, incubators and start-ups in a highly concentrated area. We’re looking forward to opportunities for partnerships that help transform healthcare and support exceptional consumer experiences. Additionally, this allows us to tap into the IT talent pipeline in this state,” Tom Miller, senior vice president & CIO of Anthem Inc., said in prepared remarks.
