Apollo Bank, a locally owned and operated community bank based in Miami, recently promoted Joaquin Medina to senior vice president of client management. In this new role, Medina will serve as the primary leader for the bank’s deposit relationships and will focus on growth strategies.

Medina brings more than a decade of banking experience to this new position. He will lead the bank’s Branch Division and will be responsible for establishing sales and business development strategies meant to expand the company’s commercial deposit portfolio. In addition, Medina will work directly with lending teams on existing and prospective client opportunities, manage third-party partnerships, oversee the audit process and collaborate with compliance department heads.

Extensive industry background

Medina first joined Apollo Bank in 2011 upon the bank’s launch. He previously managed the bank’s Brickell location where he served as market team leader and was responsible for the overall performance of the company’s headquarters. Prior to joining Apollo Bank, Medina worked as vice president and managing director at TotalBank. As part of his background, he acquired extensive experience as a mortgage loan originator and financial service specialist at Regions Bank.

“Joaquin was one of Apollo Bank’s first employees and was instrumental in helping to grow our Brickell branch, in addition to playing an important role in instituting their suite of client services in line with Apollo’s core values,” said Eddy Arriola, chairman & CEO of Apollo Bank.

Medina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and banking from the Florida International University in Miami.
