As Winter Olympics Near, Marriott Opens 428-Key Hotel Close to Sochi Venues

As visitors from around the world prepare to converge on Russia's Sochi resort region for the Winter Olympics next week, Marriott International Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyanahas opened the 428-key Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel near the Krasnaya Polyana Mountain Cluster, one of the two main Olympic locations.

As visitors from around the world prepare to converge on Russia’s Sochi resort region for the Winter Olympics next week, Marriott International Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyanahas opened the 428-key Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel near the Krasnaya Polyana Mountain Cluster, one of the two main Olympic locations. The five-star hotel, managed by an affiliate of U.S.-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts, is located at the center of the new Gorki Gorod ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana.

Sochi and its surrounding area has been a hotbed for hotel development in the advent of the Winter Olympics. FRHI Hotels and Resorts has also recently opened two properties: the 166-key Swissôtel Sochi Krasnaya Polyana and the 203-key Swissôtel Sochi Kamelia (details here).

The seven-story Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana comprises 333 guest rooms plus 95 suites, which feature up to three bedrooms and separate living and dining rooms. Guest rooms range between 334 square feet and 1,840 square feet in size and feature amenities such as flat-screen LCD satellite TVs, wired and wireless high-speed internet, business work space, mini wet bar and balconies with panoramic mountain views.

Amenities include the 2,000-square-foot, high-end SOUL SPA center, which offers a fitness center, nine treatment rooms, private spa suites and treatments such as Turkish baths, Finnish saunas and aromatherapy. The hotel offers multiple pools, including indoor and heated outdoor pools, as well as dedicated children’s pool and a whirlpool. Other amenities include SportCourt facilities, landscaped grounds, tanning facilities, a full-service business center and Wi-Fi. Among its family-friendly features are a kids’ club, children’s entertainment complexes, kids’ menus and dedicated play and swim areas.

Dining options include the River Café, the hotel’s main restaurant, which features an international menu; the L’Olivio Italian restaurant, which offers dining and drinks both indoors and on outdoor terraces with expansive views of the surrounding Caucasus Mountains; and the lobby bar and coffee house.

Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana is located within walking distance of world-class slopes that reach altitudes of 7,546 feet and include the Roza khutor Ski Complex, an Olympic venue, and the Gornya Karousel ski sports complex, with its 18.6-mile ski run network.

Other attractions include the 323,000-square-foot Olympic Media Center, the region’s largest meetings and events center; Gorky Gorod Shopping Mall, which comprises a water park with a sandy beach, spa center, cinema, bowling alley, kids’ area, cafes, restaurants, shops and boutiques; Sochi Olympic Park, the Sochi Dendrarium; and the Sochi Discovery World Aquarium.
