Charleston’s hotel-dining options have expanded with the recent opening of the art-focused Grand Bohemian at Wentworth and Meeting streets.
Designed to celebrate creativity and inspire the soul, the $30 million, 50-key Southern Renaissance-style property is part of the Kessler Collection, a group of luxury lodgings with 12 hotels in several states. The hotel also marks Marriott’s first Autograph Collection-branded property in South Carolina.
Located in the heart of the city’s historic district, Grand Bohemian offers an on-site Grand Bohemian Gallery–the largest art gallery in The Kessler Collection–featuring rare, local, regional and internationally recognized artwork. Other amenities include a wine tasting room, specialty coffee shop with micro-roasted coffee, farm-to-table culinary offerings with a regional focus, as well as a rooftop restaurant and terrace with panoramic views of historic Charleston.
According to The Post and Courier, the Grand Bohemian recently held a job fair to hire about 120 employees. Nightly room rates average around $350, and occupancy is expected to reach 90 percent.
The property is the second full-service boutique hotel to open in Charleston this summer, after the Spectator Hotel at State and Linguard streets greeted its first guests in July.
For the fourth consecutive year, Conde Nast Traveler has voted Charleston the No. 1 U.S. City, and No. 2 in the World, in addition to Travel + Leisure ranking Charleston the No. 1 City in the U.S. for the second consecutive year.
