Avison Young Acquires Remington Group
- May 05, 2015
Avison Young is covering diverse geographic territory with the latest step in its ongoing U.S. growth campaign. The Toronto-based commercial real estate services firm has acquired Remington Group Inc., a suburban Philadelphia-based project management company that also boasts an additional location in San Antonio. But that’s not all.
With the snapping up of the well-established Wayne, Pa.-based Remington Group, Avison Young has not only increasing its U.S. footprint and business-line coverage in the Philly area; it has also taken another step in the growth of its project management services business. “Project management is a key component of our service matrix, and providing high quality PM service is absolutely critical to our owner and occupier clients,” Earl Webb, president, U.S. operations with Avison Young, told Commercial Property Executive.
Remington Group first opened its doors in 1992 and as an owner’s representative firm, it has since supplied a long list of clients with planning, design, construction and relocation services, as well as a host of advisory services ranging from preparing financial pro-formas to developing and managing public and private partnerships to providing litigation support, Remington Group has accomplished quite a bit in its more than 20 years in existence, having administered the fit-out of more than 7.5 million square feet of office space and overseen in excess of 2.5 million square feet of new construction.
William Connor, founder of Remington Group, will spearhead Avison Young’s project management offerings in the metropolitan Philadelphia and San Antonio areas as principal. Connor brings with him 35 years of experience in the real estate industry and a crackerjack team of 10. “We are thrilled to be able to bring the Remington folks on board with us,” Webb added.
Every year has been a busy year for Avison Young since it kicked off its U.S. expansion program in 2009, and 2015 is proving to be no exception. Last month the firm acquired Chicago-based Mesa Development L.L.C., and in March, opened offices in Indianapolis and Minneapolis. But it’s not all about this country. Avison Young has also continued increasing its presence in Canada, as well as Europe, where it has established new offices in Munich and Dusseldorf, Germany.
