Brad Pitt to Help Design New Dubai Resort
- Jun 02, 2008
Dubai, which is fast becoming one of the world’s top resort destinations, will get a new America-themed resort centering on an 800-room upper-upscale hotel, courtesy of Zabeel Properties. Adding to the profile of the project is news that actor Brad Pitt, working with architectural firm GRAFT, will have a hand in the design of the resort. While Zabeel has not yet disclosed the exact location or the name of the new hotel and resort, it has revealed a central theme of the project–environmental sustainability. The developer will seek LEED Gold certification with the intention of creating a luxury destination that serves as a premier example of green development. GRAFT, which counts Pitt as one of its consultants for the Zabeel endeavor, will spearhead the project’s environmentally-friendly architecture. Zabeel plans to announce additional details on the hotel and resort endeavor within the next few months. Dubai-headquartered Zabeel is the two-year-old property arm of diversified investment company Zabeel Investments. Zabeel’s real estate portfolio presently consists of about $5 billion of upscale residential, commercial and hospitality developments. Established in 1998, Berlin-based GRAFT also has offices in Los Angeles and China. The firm engages in activities ranging from architecture and urban planning, to exhibition design and music.
