Broadway-Inspired Hotel Opens in Times Square
- May 26, 2016
The seven-story accommodation facility located in Times Square features 45 guest rooms, two penthouse suites and a lobby restaurant and it was designed by New York-based firm Mapos. Room rates range from $149 to $899 a night.
The hotel is inspired by Broadway and the New York glamour of the 60s and 70s, with touches of yellow and patina brass hardware details throughout the property, similar to the popular glowing marquees of the district. Rooms have dark wood floorboards which resemble dance-worn floors of show stages and walls are blanketed with white oak panels. Other room amenities include crafted carpentry, full-length mirrors, custom LED lighting, and premium beds with Egyptian cotton linens.
The two penthouses feature custom-designed Murphy beds which can be folded-up to reveal seating areas. Additionally, each suite has a private outdoor area. The larger one spans across 400 square feet under countless Edison bulbs. Both penthouses can be rented for events. Shocard Hotel has a pet-friendly policy and it provides adapted, built-in mill woodwork and furniture designed by Mapos and custom-made in Italy.
A spectacular element is the sign bearing the hotel’s name, spanning several stories across the building’s black façade. It is a classic, Broadway-inspired marquee with Edison-style LED bulbs.
“Looking to New York City’s past, this design-driven property takes from vintage elements in a refined and modern way, offering guests a vivacious experience and friendly, local expertise on navigating the city,” said Ben Seidel, president & CEO of Real Hospitality Group.
