CBRE Appoints New Senior VP, Chief Tax Officer

With more than 25 years of international tax experience, Barber joins CBRE from Tyco International, where she also held both leadership positions.

Los AngelesCBRE Group Inc. has announced Madeleine Barber as the new senior vice president & chief tax officer. With more than 25 years of international tax experience as a business leader, Barber will be responsible for managing and directing all aspects of CBRE’s global tax function including tax planning, policy and compliance, and provisions for the corporation worldwide.

“Madeleine is a successful executive who brings a wealth of expertise in tax matters to CBRE,” said Jim Groch, chief financial officer of CBRE, “and has a record of working effectively across functions to create competitive advantage.”

Formerly the senior vice president & chief tax officer at Tyco International, Barber began her career in public accounting, serving Fortune 100 clients with the international tax practices at Arthur Andersen and KPMG. A partner at both firms, Barber held leadership positions during a significant period in which the company underwent several changes. Having joined Tyco in 2004, Barber played an avid role in the spin-off of Tyco’s healthcare and electronics businesses just three years later in 2007, and its North American residential security and valves & controls businesses in 2012.

Barber has a JD and a LLM from Villanova University School of Law and will be based out of Philadelphia.
