CB Richard Ellis Inc. has been named exclusive retail leasing agent for Hearst Tower, located on the southwest corner of Eighth Avenue and 57th St. in New York City. The tower has a pair of high-profile retail spaces, according to CBRE. “Hearst Tower is truly a special place in Manhattan,” CBRE executive vice president Richard Hodos told CPN. “It’s the gateway to the new Columbus Circle–anchored by the already successful Time Warner Center and the new Museum of Art and Design. Its resident population is a “who’s who” in the New York media world .Great space, special place.”Hodos is marketing the retail with David LaPierre, Steve Sjurset and Janelle Rovegno, who will be working with William Shanahan, vice chairman, to bring in new tenants.Owned and occupied by media giant Hearst Corp., the tower–declared New York City’s first green building–sits on an historic base from the original 1928 structure. Redesigned by architect Lord Norman Foster, the new exterior honeycomb of steel allows the interior work areas to remain uncluttered by pillars and walls.
