Cinépolis USA is coming to Virginia. The theater chain will anchor the Avonlea Town Center, a $70 million mixed-use development in Loudoun County.
Peterson Cos., the developer of the Avonlea Town Center, announced the deal on May 14. Cinépolis’ new luxury cinema is scheduled to open in the mixed-use development in 2016. It will have 39,000 square feet of space, 11 screens and seats for 748 people. In addition to the cutting-edge sound system and the high-definition projection technology, Cinépolis Loudoun County will also offer its guests an upscale lounge-style lobby space, a full-service bar and in-theater dining.
The cinema will be open seven days a week. It is expected to create more than 100 new jobs.
Taylor Chess, president of retail for Peterson, called Cinépolis “the perfect entertainment anchor for Avonlea Town Center.” He also added that “there is tremendous enthusiasm for what we’re creating at Avonlea, and we look forward to announcing a complementary array of restaurants, cafes, specialty shops and boutiques in the coming months.”
Peterson plans to start work on the Avonlea Town Center project this year. The 265,000-square-foot development will be constructed on a 30-acre site near the intersection of Route 50 and Loudoun County Parkway. When finished, it will feature 122,500 square feet of retail space, a 32,000-square-foot health club, 40,000 square feet of office space, a 40,000-square-foot grocer and the 39,000-square-foot cinema.
