Comcast, the largest broadcasting and cable provider in the world according to revenue, opened the company’s new Center of Excellence in North Charleston, S.C. The $21.4 million, 80,000-square-foot building will provide work for approximately 550 customer care and technical support employees. Comcast’s new Center of Excellence is part of a 2,000-acre mixed-use development consisting of office, retail, hotel and residential properties.

Located at 3450 Ingleside Blvd., alongside Interstate 26 in the Ingleside Plantation development, the facility is 14 miles from downtown North Charleston and an 18-minute drive from the 841st Trans Battalion. Comcast Senior Vice President of Military and Veteran Affairs and Brigadier General (Ret.) Carol Eggert signed the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Statement, a commitment to the National Guard and Reserve. “We are grateful for their service and dedication, and will continue to build our employee base with these brave men and women in Charleston and across the nation,” said Eggert in a prepared statement.

The customer care representatives based in the North Charleston facility will provide dedicated support for customers who have the X1 entertainment operating system, high-speed Internet and digital telephone services. Comcast’s new center will feature six training rooms that are wired for virtual classroom education as well as an advanced product demo lab.

Comcast NBCUniversal is on track to hire more than 10,000 members of the military community by the end of the year, including veterans, National Guard and Reserve members and military spouses.
