Northwest Mississippi Community College is keeping up with the increase of manufacturing operations in the Mid-South by adding a new Mechanical Technology Building. The building will be a part of the college’s Career-Technical facilities.
“We are thrilled about the opportunity to put our top-of-the-line instructors and state-of-the-art equipment in an industry-standard facility to match” declared Career-Technical Education and Workforce Development Associate Vice President Jerry Nichols.
The community college recently broke ground on the new 37,000-square-foot facility which will house two Heating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) technology labs, two computer labs, a precision manufacturing and machining lab, one welding and cutting lab, office space for educational staff and a large covered outdoor lab for HVAC and welding work.
The expansion will double the classroom and lab space for the college’s programs as well as offer new state-of-the-art equipment for training students. Currently these programs are located at Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Career-Technical complex. After the programs relocate, its current space will be renovated and refitted to the needs of other educational programs.
The $4.27 million project is funded by state appropriated bond money. According to the Memphis Business Journal, the facility will be located at Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Horn Lake campus.
The Memphis Business Journal also reported the acquisition of the 127-key Hyatt Place Germantown for $11.3 million. According to the new outlet, the Winchester Road property was purchased by Houston-based Moody National REIT, operating as Moody National HP G Town Holdings LLC. The seller was identified as Boca Raton, Fla.-based SHG HP Germantown LLC. Hotel amenities include year-round heated pool, 24-hour fitness center, 1,175 square feet of flexible meeting space, onsite parking, onsite café and media room.
