Milwaukee—The Opus Group has begun construction on the new headquarters for Delta Defense LLC and the United States Concealed Carry Association, a 60,000-square-foot office facility in West Bend, Wis., just north of Milwaukee.
“Our business is one of constant change. As we constantly seek to serve our members better and create new education and training materials, having a physical environment that facilitates that change and productivity is very important to us,” Julie Ledger, Delta Defense’ VP of sales and marketing, told Commercial Property Executive. “It is integral to the happiness of our employees and thus our overall success as a company.”
The building is designed with a large flex space that includes a big seating stair where associates will gather to attend the weekly company meeting. Additionally, the space can be used to hold other meetings and events or to host events for the community.
It will also contain their call center for member services as well as a fitness center, training rooms, prep kitchen and a fully equipped studio where the company can record or broadcast video live to members or other media outlets.
According to Ledger, the appeal of the new headquarters will be that it is much larger and provides a much more open layout, which allows its teams to have better adjacencies to each other, facilitating quicker problem solving and work flow. Its employee base is projected to grow by more than 130 new jobs over the next five years.
“This new headquarters will accommodate this rapid growth rate much more effectively and seamlessly—with much less disruption to our team every time we grow,” she said. “It is also on a piece of land that will allow us to add additional buildings in the future, as needed.”
Visible from Highway 45, the two-story headquarters is located on nearly 36 acres of land in the West Bend Corporate Center.
“Delta Defense has a strong relationship with the community and civic partners so they really wanted to remain in West Bend where the support for their company has been so positive,” Matt Bratzke, Opus Design Build’s director, project management, told CPE. “With that in mind, the particular site offered space for future growth and great visibility where they are prominently positioned on the edge of a hill overlooking Highway 45.”
Construction began in May and will be complete for the company to move in early 2017.
