CPE Wins NAREE Awards

Commercial Property Executive took home multiple honors from the National Association of Real Estate Editors 63rd Annual Journalism Awards.

Commercial Property Executive took home multiple honors from the National Association of Real Estate Editors 63rd Annual Journalism Awards. The competition recognizes excellence in reporting, writing and editing about residential and commercial real estate, in print, online and through broadcast reports.

CPE won the Silver Award for Best Web Site Solely Devoted to Residential, Commercial or Financial Real Estate and/or Home Design and honorable mention for Best Trade Magazine Report on the Commercial Real Estate Industry. The awards were determined by a panel of judges from the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University chaired by Professor Patrick S. Washburn, a former news reporter and editor.

“This comprehensive web site tells you more than you ever thought you knew about commercial real estate. It does so in a crisp and engaging format,” the judges noted about CPExecutive.com. The site, a past award winner under the Commercial Property News brand, was significantly redesigned in July 2012 to expand content offerings and accessibility for commercial real estate executives. Key features include daily news analysis, access to the all-digital monthly magazine, video interviews with commercial real estate executives, the extensive Research Center, weekly updates on major U.S. cities, guest columns and blog posts, podcasts and other content. The most recent addition is the Deal of the Week.

The trade magazine report, Editorial Director Suzann D. Silverman’s Special Report on “The Best and Worst Cities for Investment,” appeared in the September 2012 issue of the magazine. “This special report looked at the best and worst cities for real estate investors in a volatile market. It used not only interviews but material from other sources for a detailed and interesting look at this topic,” observed the judges. The report included synopses of the investment strategies of many of the most high-profile, active players in the marketplace, along with analysis of specific market opportunities based on a variety of research and interviews with industry researchers. A link provides access to more extensive details of the investors’ strategies.

NAREE, now in its 84th year, works to help further journalistic efforts in the fields of residential, commercial and financial real estate, home and urban design, and green building. Silverman is a member of the board of directors.
