Palmetto Plains is located in Orangeburg County, where the two companies have recently announced the financial close and start of construction of another 100 MWdc solar project, dubbed Huntley Solar. Combined, the two facilities will provide $11 million in local tax revenue for the county during their expected 40-year operational life.

Cypress Creek is the developer and engineering, procurement and construction provider for both solar projects, and will also handle the long-term operations & maintenance services. Palmetto Plains is Cubico’s first asset in its U.S. solar portfolio to start operations.

South Carolina now totals more than 880 megawatts of solar developments in operation, which generate enough electricity to power about 94,000 homes. Of this capacity, Cypress Creek has developed and added 375 megawatts across 22 projects to the state’s grid.
