Cullinan Properties has broken ground on Rock Run Crossings, a mixed-use development located in Joliet, Ill., and announced the first retail tenant. Regal will occupy approximately 70,000 square feet at the property, as it plans to open a 16-screen cinema.

Cullinan took the first steps toward building Rock Run Crossings last year, when it began to demolish the vacant houses and barns existing on the 265-acre site. The property will be located at the northeast quadrant of the intersection between interstates 55 and 80 and is expected to include:

  • 500,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space
  • a 500-unit hotel
  • 200,000 square feet of office space
  • 600 residential units

Less than 10 miles from the property lies the 350-acre Rock Run Business Park, which includes Joliet Junior College, office space, several hotels and more retail businesses. According to Rock Run Crossings’ website, the Interstate 55 corridor has been experiencing significant growth in business and employment with population expecting to reach 1.2 million by 2040.

Cullinan Properties also owns and manages the Levee District in East Peoria, Ill., which the company recently expanded.
