Cypress Creek Renewables joined forces with NRG Energy Inc. on a project slated to bring online 25 megawatts of solar projects: the former will develop and oversee operations at the solar projects for the latter’s commercial and industrial customers. The installations will set the foundation of a new type of simplified fixed-price renewable energy plan for large businesses.

Under this new plan, NRG customers will receive dedicated, locally sourced renewable energy with flexible options to meet a company’s business, sustainability and procurement needs. Among the plan’s features are variable term lengths, the ability to procure up to 100 percent of a customer’s electricity usage from a renewable resource and naming rights to the designated facility.

Cypress Creek’s portfolio currently comprises more than seven gigawatts of solar projects across the country. In addition, the company offers in-house engineering, procurement and construction teams, as well as a national operations and maintenance program.

“This collaboration marks the future of widespread availability of commercial and industrial solar products in Texas, fulfilling the state’s promise of a customer-choice market design,” Robert Gaudette, senior vice president of business solutions for NRG, said in prepared remarks. “Businesses want simplicity in renewables, and together with Cypress Creek, we will help bring them closer to their sustainability goals.”
