- Oct 22, 2015
CyrusOne continues to build its East Coast presence. The global colocation solutions provider added 30,000 square feet and 6 megawatts of power capacity to its Sterling, Va. data center campus, west of Washington, D.C.
Located 10 minutes from Dulles International Airport and 30 minutes from Ronald Reagan Washington Airport, the property is in close proximity to numerous hotels, restaurants, and other amenities. The northern part of the Old Dominion State is home to one of the world’s largest clusters of data centers—an estimated 70 percent of Internet traffic passes through the Loudoun County backbone network. As a consequence, CyrusOne’s Sterling facility has direct access to one of the largest Internet ecxhange points in the US.
The Sterling facility now has a total of 75,000 CSF and a power capacity to handle 12 megawatts of critical load as well as superior fiber connectivity, which makes it ideal for colocation of high-performance computing. At full build, the 14-acre campus is expected to accommodate multiple buildings, adding up to approximately 400,000 square feet of data center space, 36,000 square feet of Class A office space, and up to 48 megawatts of critical load.
