Danish Manufacturer Doubles KY Footprint

Linak, a company that produces linear actuators for hospital beds, office desks, farm equipment and other uses, broke ground on a $33 million expansion in Louisville, Ky. The investment will create 413 new jobs.

Linak U.S. Inc. recently began work on a $33 million expansion of its plant in Louisville, Ky. The manufacturer of linear actuators will add an approximately 145,000-square-foot building and double the size of its facility. The investment includes the purchase and installation of new production equipment. Roughly 413 full-time jobs will be created.

Located at 2200 Stanley Gault Parkway, the manufacturer is less than 5 miles away from the junction between Interstates 64 and 265. The expansion will allow Linak to improve efficiency, generate higher profits and make more reliable deliveries while lowering production costs by 25 percent. Linak expects to double output and sales during the next five years. The company first opened a sales office in Louisville in 1994 and established its manufacturing facility in 1999. Currently, the firm employs 300 people.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $3.5 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program, in December 2016. Additionally, KEDFA approved Linak for up to $350,000 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act.

Headquartered in Denmark, Linak operates facilities in 35 countries and maintains its Americas headquarters in Louisville. Linear actuators use low-voltage DC motors to convert rotational movement into linear motion. Uses for actuators include hospital beds, agricultural appliances, adjustable workstations and office desks.
