DHL to Expand Port of Houston Industrial Campus
- Apr 11, 2017
DCT Industrial Trust announced it has acquired 13.2 acres in the Port submarket of Houston. The industrial real estate company will develop a 222,000-square-foot build-to-suit facility for DHL Supply Chain USA, a top logistics company.
The lot is adjacent to two existing DCT Industrial buildings on State Highway 225, both occupied by DHL. The new Class A distribution building will feature 36-foot clear height and will be rail-served by the Port Terminal Rail Association. When completed, DCT Industrial and DHL’s La Porte campus will encompass 545,000 square feet.
Designed by Terry Kennedy of Munson Kennedy Partnership, the facility will be constructed by Angler Construction. Work is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2017.
“We are very pleased to accommodate the growth of DHL in a state-of-the-art facility that provides modern functionality combined with preferred rail access in the Port of Houston,” Justin Bennett, senior vice president of DCT Industrial, said in prepared remarks. “The Port of Houston continues to exhibit a strong trajectory of user demand and as this transaction demonstrates, DCT is well-positioned to both capture and create value within this expanding submarket.”
