Ensemble Hotel Partners is opening a 172-key Courtyard by Marriott, the first hotel at the Philadelpha Navy Yard that will serve the city’s largest business district.
Located three miles from Philadelphia’s Center City, the Navy Yard is a 1,200 acre, mixed-use development, offering the Philadelphia region a centrally-located waterfront business campus committed to smart energy innovation and sustainability. It is home to more than 10,000 employees and 130 companies in the office, industrial/manufacturing, and research and development sectors, occupying 6.5 million square feet of real estate in a mix of historic buildings and new high-performance and LEED certified construction.
Liberty Property Trust is the developer of the project, with whom Ensemble has worked closely, as well as with Marriott Corp., the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corp. and the City of Philadelphia to produce the first hotel at the Navy Yard.
Located at 1001 Intrepid Ave., the hotel is owned by Ensemble Hotel Partners and managed by Marriott International, Inc. The groundbreaking took place in 2012 and the facility officially opened Jan. 7. Rates begin at $199 per night.
“Ensemble responded to an RFP from Liberty Property Trust back in 2012 and was awarded the project. We were very excited to hear about the RFP for the Navy Yard as we saw the incredible potential in building a hotel in an area that brings in so much traffic and industry to Philadelphia, ” Conrad Garner, vice president of Development for Ensemble Hotel Partners told Commercial Property Executive. “The hotel industry is strong and growing in Philadelphia. We are confident that the new Courtyard Marriott South at The Navy Yard will appeal to businesses in Center City market, the Navy Yard market and from the airport as well.”
Ensemble Hotel Partners focuses on investment, development and asset management of branded and independent hotels in the U.S. The company is growth oriented, and therefore currently has three other hotel properties in the pipeline for development, according to Garner.
