Equinix Inc. is expanding its presence in Paris via a fourth International Business Exchange data center. Scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2012, the new center is expected to meet demand for interconnection and colocation services in Paris and across the region.

Known as PA4, the center will be located in central Paris. Equinix opened its first IBX data center in the city in April 2010, with the second phase due to open in the second quarter of this year and the third phase soon after that.

According to Equinix Europe president Eric Schwartz, Paris represents a growing market due to its strategic location in the world economy and the strong performance of its existing data centers there. He added that the company continues to invest not only in Paris but across Europe in order to keep pace with the strong demand seen in those markets.

The new data center will support services for network, financial, content, enterprise and cloud and IT services. It will be built out in phases, eventually comprising a total of 118,400 square feet.
