FR Conversions, Inc., a major producer of van conversions for wheelchair-accessible transportation, has recently announced plans to relocate to a new facility in Westminster. The move is part of the company’s plan for growth.

The manufacturer is currently located in Woodlawn, Baltimore County, but it expects to move its entire manufacturing operations to the new Carroll County location by the end of August. The company’s new home at 1231 Tech Court is a 152,000-square-foot industrial facility that was completed in 2007 on a 9-acre site, according to real estate website PropertyShark.

“Increased nationwide demand for vans that can accommodate wheelchairs required us to significantly expand our manufacturing operations,” Eli Rosenbloom, president of FR Conversions, said in a prepared statement. “We are investing $20 million to purchase the building, invest in additional equipment and move the existing operation from Baltimore County.  For that investment, we will get a facility that is six times larger than in our current location,” he added. According to PropertyShark, Conewago Contractors Inc. is the seller.

FR Conversions will move 100 employees to the new facility, and plans to hire 50 more in the first 90-120 days of operations. The company also said that it expects to create as many as 400 new jobs over the next two to three years.
