Gaslight Properties is keeping busy in Clifton. At the beginning of last month, the company purchased the 151-unit Overlook at Clifton, and days later revealed that Gaslight plans to construct an upscale $16.5 million apartment community in the area.

To be called Gaslight Manor, the property will be located at 3240-3250 Whitfield Ave. and will consist of two buildings, with 117 studios, one- and two-bedroom apartment units. Scheduled for completion in March 2016, Gaslight Manor is designed to attract young professionals and empty nesters.

Cincinnati-based Al. Neyer is the general contractor for the project, which is being designed by CR Architecture + Design. On Dec. 17, the Cincinnati City Council authorized a 15-year tax exemption for all improvements made on the Whitfield Avenue properties. As a condition of the agreement, the buildings  will meet LEED Silver standards or higher.

With demand on the rise, Greater Cincinnati is in the midst of an apartment construction boom. Two other projects, also announced last month, are expected to bring almost 500 new units to the area.
