AGC Glass North America plans to expand its operations in Hawkins County, Tenn. The glass manufacturer plans to invest $40.6 million and create 85 new jobs. AGC will build more than 100,000 additional square feet of manufacturing space at its existing facility in Church Hill.
Located at 600 AFG Road, the facility provides access to interstates 26 and 81. The company has had a presence in Hawkins County since 1962 and currently has 530 employees in Church Hill. “This investment in North America allows us to expand the industry’s largest product offering and continue to augment our service,” said Mike Antonucci, regional president for AGC Glass North America, in a prepared statement.
AGC Glass North America’s products are available through a network of glass fabricators and window manufacturers in the U.S. and Canada. AGC Glass North America is part of the AGC Group, employing more than 50,000 people in approximately 30 countries.
The entire Middle Tennessee region is in a boom period due to the robust presence of healthcare, automotive, insurance, finance and publishing companies. Nashville is among the fastest growing economies in the U.S., with high demand for industrial facilities. At the end of last year, Premier Design + Build Group completed the construction of a 652,000-square-foot industrial building in suburban Nashville.
