HFF Hires Shapiro as Director in Atlanta

HFF has hired industry veteran Gregg Shapiro to serve as director of the firm's Atlanta office.

HFF has just landed a big fish in Atlanta. The firm nabbed Gregg Shapiro, a fixture on the local commercial real estate scene, to serve as a director in the Atlanta office.

For the most part, debt and equity placement transactions will be Shapiro’s domain. Logistically, his activities will involve markets not just in the Peach State, but across the Southeast. He’s well equipped to take on the job. Shapiro comes to HFF from SRE Advisors L.L.C., a commercial real estate capital markets advisory business he founded. His history in real estate finance also includes a position as CFO at GDC Properties L.L.C. And he made his entrée into the real estate industry at AvalonBay Communities Inc., where he rose to the role of senior director.

“Gregg has been involved with many aspects of the commercial real estate industry throughout his career and brings a wealth of past knowledge and experience with him to the firm,” said Mark Sixour, senior managing director in HFF’s Atlanta office.

Shapiro’s desk is the second one HFF has added in the Atlanta office this month. Three weeks ago, the firm announced that David Wagner, a former investment manager at Cortland Partners L.L.C. and associate broker at Cushman & Wakefield, had come onboard as a director to focus on multi-housing investment sales in the Southeast.
