Chicago—HFF recently welcomed Patrick Walker as director in its Chicago office. In his new role, Walker will focus on commercial real estate finance with an emphasis on joint venture equity raises, mezzanine loans and recapitalization strategies.

Walker started his career in the industry as an audit associate for the real estate group at RSM McGladrey, formerly known as American Express Tax & Business Services. He also held financial positions related to the real estate business with Royal Bank of Scotland in Chicago, where he spent more than eight years in the CMBS originations group and the global restructuring group.

Prior to joining HFF, Walker served as vice president for Jefferies LoanCore for three years, being responsible for real estate debt originations for office, retail, multi-housing, hotel, self-storage and industrial properties in the central United States.

Walker holds a bachelor of science degree in finance and accounting from Indiana University and a master of business administration degree from University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

“Patrick is a wonderful addition to our Chicago debt and equity placement team,” said Michael Kavanau, senior managing director & co-head of HFF’s Chicago office, in a prepared statement. “He has strong relationships with commercial real estate investors and borrowers throughout the Midwest, which will be of great value to our current and future clients,” he added.
