Hilton Introduces Revamped Phoenix-Area Hotel
- Aug 08, 2019
DoubleTree by Hilton’s newest hotel is now open for business in Chandler, Ariz., after the 160-key asset underwent a comprehensive refurbishment program. Before Hilton stepped into the picture, the hotel was independent under the name of Chandler Southgate Hotel.
Property owner VCI Corp., an affiliate of Carson, Calif.-based Uniwell, conducted a 24-month multimillion-dollar renovation that included upgrades of everything from the guestrooms and lobby to the restaurant space and meeting rooms. The hotel is now being managed by Granite Hospitality.
DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Chandler is located at 7475 W. Chandler Blvd. and is just minutes away from the major tech corporations that call Chandler home. The Arizona city earned its reputation as the innovation and technology hub of the Southwest after companies such as Intel, Verizon and microelectronics manufacturer Microchip set up campuses there. The new hotel shares the same street as both Intel and Microchip while being just roughly a mile away from the Verizon campus and 12 miles away from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The property features a fitness center, an outdoor heated pool and 2,200 square feet of meeting and event space. The DoubleTree also has two on-site dining options including casual restaurant Made Market and the more conventional bar-restaurant, The TEN Lounge.
Branching out in Arizona
The hotel company also opened DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix North at 10220 N. Metro Parkway E. in Phoenix in April of last year. The DoubleTree brand now has 10 other locations in Arizona spread throughout Flagstaff, Phoenix and Tucson.
Shawn McAteer, global head & senior vice president of DoubleTree by Hilton, said the company was first founded 50 years ago in Arizona and that the state held a special place in DoubleTree’s history.
