Historic Old Pasadena Building Gets Modern Certification

In an example of renovation focused on energy efficiency, an historic office building in Pasadena was recently granted green certification by the United States Green Building Council. Currently owned by a joint venture comprised of Edgewood Realty Partners and CenterSquare Investment Management, an affiliate of BNY Mellon, the Chamber of Commerce building in Old Pasadena is now LEED E-B Silver certified.
Located at 115-117 E. Colorado Blvd. on the northwest corner of Colorado Boulevard and Arroyo Parkway, the century-old building was designed by John Parkinson and Edwin Bergstrom. The 85,000-square-foot building was then renovated by Edgewood and now provides creative office space in an historic setting. The building offers tenants a 246-space multi-level parking structure, as well as great proximity to Old Pasadena’s shopping and dining centers.
The six-story building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the recipient of a number of industry honors. Awards include 2013-2014 Outstanding Building of the Year from the Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater Los Angelses and the Pacific Southwest Regional TOBY honor. Praise was also received for the effort from the Executive Director of Pasadena Heritage, Susan Mossman, who noted that “historic buildings can be made energy efficient while protecting design features and historic fabric.”
