For the construction of the 85,000-square-foot property, the city council approved an economic development agreement that could exempt the company from up to $1.5 million in sales taxes.

In the year that marks the company’s 85th anniversary, HOLT CAT broke ground on an 85,000-square-foot, full-service sales, rental and parts facility in Georgetown, Texas. The project, slated for completion in mid-2019, will offer Cat machine sales, rentals, parts and service.

The new regional facility will be located at 2101 Airport Road and is expected to create 129 new jobs and bring a net benefit of more than $13 million to the city over the next 10 years. Earlier this year, the City Council approved an economic development agreement, which claims that if the company meets the target, the city will rebate up to $1.5 million in sales taxes generated by the firm over five years.

“This economic development agreement is another excellent example of what can get done when city departments work together. This is the direct result of various departments, such as economic development, utility services, planning and others, coming together to help bring another outstanding employer to Georgetown,” Mayor Dale Ross said in a prepared statement.

Public contribution

The city is also improving the infrastructure in the area by expanding Airport Road and a wastewater line along I-35 to encourage future commercial development. A Georgetown Economic Development Corp. grant valued at $185,000 was approved by the council to connect to the wastewater line extension.

HOLT CAT has been in the Greater Austin area since 1954 and currently operates facilities in Austin and Pflugerville, off the Interstate 35 corridor.
