Oetker Collection will expand into the Americas with the Palacio Tangara in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and New York Masterpiece in Manhattan.
“Since the foundation of Oetker Collection, we have always listened to our most loyal guests in order to identify the destinations they favor most,” Frank Marrenbach, Oetker Collection’s CEO, said in a prepared release. “With these two new properties we continue to carefully expand Oetker Collection portfolio whilst remaining truthful to our promise—not to just open new hotels, but to create true masterpieces.”
Set to open in the spring of 2017, the Palacio Tangara, Sao Paulo will be built in the surroundings of the highly regarded Burle Marx Park, whose gardens were designed by Roberto Burle Marx. The hotel will include 141 spacious guestrooms, including 55 suites, all with beautiful views overlooking the park.
An acclaimed chef will drive the hotel’s dining experiences and there will be a signature restaurant, chef’s table, a bar, a wine cellar, a lobby and lounge bar, all with outdoor terraces. The hotel will also feature 11 function rooms, including a ballroom for up to 360 guests with terraces overlooking the park. The fitness center and spa will have a private garden and there will be indoor and outdoor swimming pools as well as a kid’s club.
Set to open in 2018, the New York Masterpiece will be located at 550 Madison Avenue, between 55th and 56th Street, just minutes from Central Park. The hotel will occupy the former Sony Tower, originally built as the headquarters of AT&T back in 1984. The 43 stories postmodern skyscraper was created by the famous Philip Johnson and is an iconic New York landmark.
Once completed, the hotel will consist of 170 rooms including 60 suites set across eight floors. There will be a cozy yet stylish bar with a beautiful lounge area, a gourmet restaurant, a spa, a fitness center and a 25-meter pool.
Situated above the hotel, on floors 21 to 43, will be 115 luxury apartments owned by the building’s owner, the Chetrit Group. These apartments are decorated by world famous designer Robert Stern and will be serviced by Oetker Collection as well.
“I am delighted that Oetker Collection and its prestigious portfolio of hotels join forces with the Chetrit Group in an effort to open a real Masterpiece Hotel in New York,”
Joseph Chetrit, president of the Chetrit group, said. “Thanks to the great quality of the building, its marvelous location, the visionary alignment between the teams and the bespoke design concept, I am very excited about the partnership and have no doubt in the success of this fascinating project.”
