The nation’s largest military shipbuilder has selected Ritchie-Curbow Construction Co. as contractor for the 21,894-square-foot Huntington Ingalls Industries Family Health Center. It will be located on Washington Avenue between 45th and 46th streets at the company’s Newport News Shipbuilding division.

QuadMed will operate the center, which will offer primary care, radiology, physical therapy and laboratory services. Plans call for 19 exam rooms, five specialty exam rooms, two pediatric exam rooms, X-ray and chemistry labs, a full-service pharmacy and space for education and meetings. Huntington Ingalls expects to open the facility this fall. The project’s cost was not disclosed.

The Newport News project is one of two healthcare-related facilities in the company’s pipeline. Also under construction is an employee health center for the Ingalls Shipbuilding facility in Pascagoula, Miss.
