Madrid—Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced that it will open its first Hyatt Centric hotel in Spain. A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Exacorp One SL for a 159-key Hyatt Centric property in Madrid, expected to open by the fourth quarter of 2017.

The 1920s building will incorporate strong, local influences with a boutique vibe. The asset will feature a restaurant and bar called Hielo y Carbon and a rooftop terrace slated for a 2018 opening.

“We are looking forward to working with Hyatt to introduce the Hyatt Centric brand to Spain,” said Jorge Diaz Estrada, director for Exacorp, in prepared remarks. “Hyatt Centric Gran Vía Madrid will offer an unbeatable experience for anybody seeking to live and experience the authentic, modern Madrid. The hotel’s central location combined with its unique design will speak to leisure and business travelers alike.”

The central location on one of Madrid’s busiest routes and its proximity to cultural sites, boutique shops, popular bars and trendy restaurants confirms the brand’s positioning as serving millennial-minded travelers who want to be in the middle of the action to explore.

The new addition follows the recent announcement of Hyatt Centric La Rosiere, France and other properties planned for Barbados, the French Alps and Ginza Tokyo. The brand’s expansion plans include a dozen hotels to open globally by the end of 2019.
