It’s a momentous move for Colony American Finance. The company has just put in place its very first dedicated CFO with the appointment of industry expert Christopher Hoeffel to the position.
The decision to add the CFO title to the leadership list was a simple one for CAF, which provides commercial loans to investors of tenant-occupied single-family rental properties. After a successful year, the company decided that having a CFO at the top would be essential to its continued progress. “His appointment was part of CAF’s evolution into a fully independent company,” a CAF spokesperson told Commercial Property Executive. CAF had been an affiliate of Colony American Homes, a leading provider of high-quality single-family rental homes.
Hoeffel brings to the table a distinguished history in finance. Most recently he held the title of managing director at Investcorp, where he served as head of real estate debt investments. It was a role he had taken on after occupying the position of Investcorp’s head of investment operations for real estate and corporate investments in the U.S. and Europe. Prior to joining Investcorp, Hoeffel cultivated his expertise at JP Morgan / Bear Stearns & Co., acting as a senior managing director a and global co-head of Commercial Mortgages and, perhaps most notably, architect of a top Wall Street lending operation. And the credentials go on and on.
Now, Hoeffel has hit the ground running at CAF, list of goals in hand. “The company’s current priorities include expanding the firm’s capital base in order to support the growth in originations which are approaching $1 billion in closed loans,” Hoeffel told CPE.
CAF is no stranger to creating new positions at the highest level. One year ago, the company selected Ryan McBride to serve as its first chief operating officer.
