IMMOFINANZ Commences FLOAT Project in Düsseldorf

Vienna-based IMMOFINANZ Group has started the construction of a six-building office complex in Germany.

Vienna-based IMMOFINANZ Group has begun work on FLOAT, a six-building office complex in Düsseldorf, Germany. The approximately $165 million project is designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop and managed by WITTE Project Management.

Located in the Medienhafen district between Holzstrasse and Franziusstrasse, the massive complex is scheduled for completion in 2018, and expects to achieve LEED Gold for Core & Shell certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

“FLOAT by Renzo Piano will represent a further highlight among the many buildings by famous architects that have made the Medienhafen well known far beyond Düsseldorf’s borders over the past 20 years,” said Düsseldorf Mayor Thomas Geisel in a news release. “The transformation of parts of the Düsseldorf harbor into a modern office and residential quarter remains an important urban planning project that not only attract companies and residents, but also convinces investors,” he added.

Upon completion, FLOAT will consist of more than 30,000 square feet of rentable space, including space for retail and dining on the ground floor and approximately 780 parking spaces in a three-story underground garage. The six individual buildings will be connected through a passarelle, and will feature floor-to-ceiling glazing in the office areas, variable floor plans, and anti-glare protection. FLOAT will also offer easy access to tram and bus stations in the area.
