World Class Land Launches Tallest Residences in Southern Hemisphere

In case you haven’t heard, a new addition to the stratosphere of luxury real estate will soon rise in Melbourne’s Southbank.
According to the Neos Kosmos, World Class Land’s upcoming residential tower at 70 Southbank Blvd. will feature 1,105 high-end apartments and cost approximately $1 billion to build. The Singaporean developer has launched the project to local buyers and is planning to start construction by mid-2015. The company also held a special apartment release for international investors in Singapore last November.
Designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects, the 100-story Australia 108 skyscraper is set to become the tallest residential building in the Southern Hemisphere. Upon completion in 2019, Australia 108 will stand at more than 1040 feet, surpassing the height of the nearby Eureka tower, Fender Katsalidis architects’ previous mega-project.
“We were more interested in doing a terrific building, rather than breaking any record,” the Fender Katsalidis architects told the newspaper. “One of the key features setting the tower apart from the rest was the fact it was topped by apartments instead of a plant room. It’s really crowned by residential.”
Australia 108 will offer residences starting from $500,000 and reach up to $950,000 or higher, while a fully-customizable penthouse of about 8,575 square feet on the 100th and highest floor is expected to sell for as much as $20 million. The project also boasts a large amount of shared recreational space, including Australia’s highest swimming pools, fitness facilities, bars, club lounges, private dining areas and a golf simulator.
