- Jan 23, 2012
Jax Brewery in New Orleans is due for a major makeover this spring. Developers Earl Weber and Kenny Lobell are currently working on a reconstruction project that will add 11 new luxury apartments on the second and third floors of the landmark building, with a completion date set for June 1. As part of the same project, they plan to transform 9,400 square feet of commercial space on the second floor into a special events venue, while looking for tenants to lease or purchase the location, according to New Orleans City Business. The property is marketed by Corporate Realty, a full-service commercial real estate company headquartered in New Orleans.
Jax Brewery is located at 600 Decatur St., across from Jackson Square, in the heart of the French Quarter.
In other commercial news, New Orleans City Business reports that Covington-based Stirling Properties expanded its presence in Northwest Louisiana by acquiring Avant Properties in Shreveport.
“Avant Properties’ excellent reputation and client-focused services are synergistic with our company, and just as important, their signature managed properties and local brokerage presence will strengthen our service offerings in northwest Louisiana.” Marty Mayer, president & CEO of Stirling Properties, stated in a press release.
The acquisition expands Stirling Properties’ office and retail management portfolio in the Shreveport/Bossier City region, making it the largest management and brokerage firm in the area. The deal included two of the largest high-rise office buildings in the Shreveport Central Business District, Chase Tower and American Tower, along with Pierremont Mall, Shreveport’s landmark retail destination and first indoor shopping center.
Stirling Properties will operate out of its new Shreveport office at 401 Market St., on the ground floor of American Tower.
