Jones Lang LaSalle is expanding its Mexico operations with a new division: a resort development and consulting solutions group. The unit offers services including design, funding, development and project management along with tenant and landlord representation, energy and sustainability, and investment sales and acquisitions.

According to JLL Mexico director Hector Klerian, the group is a groundbreaking new sector in the resort industry, positioning the firm to serve local clients on resort hospitality projects with a specific group of industry leaders.

Gilberto Riojas will lead the team. Riojas brings more than a quarter-century of experience to the job, having worked in residential, office and resort projects throughout Mexico. He holds an undergraduate degree from the school of architecture at the Universidad Anahuac and an MBA from the IPADE business school.

JLL has done business in Mexico for nearly 30 years. It has a regional headquarters office in Mexico City and other offices in Monterrey and Tijuana. Its offerings in the country include tenant and landlord representation, consulting, energy and sustainability, and retail, hotels and valuation advisory. Last year the firm completed more than $60 million in transactions in Mexico.
