A joint venture of Liberty Investment Properties and Osprey Capital has opened a 92,000-square-foot Extra Space Storage facility in St. Petersburg, Fla. Extra Space Storage was appointed to manage the facility.

At 1501 2nd Avenue North, Extra Space Storage is located near the intersection of interstates 275 and 375 in downtown St. Petersburg. The area is densely populated, and 46 percent of the people live in rented homes. Completed last month, the facility comprises 600 climate- and non-climate-controlled units, ranging from 40 to 300 square feet. Amenities of the building include a gate, drive-up access and security camera.

“There was a real need to develop a storage facility with easy access and close proximity to the expanding community, with Millennials and businesses being key target customers,” mentioned Adam Mikkelson, president of Liberty Investment Properties Inc., in prepared remarks.

Other St. Petersburg self-storage facilities are expected to open this year, including an 811-unit asset developed by Philips Development & Realty.
