  • Why this project is notable: JZA+D worked with the client on its goal to make these late 1980s buildings competitive with more modern, Class A properties in the area and meet current workplace trends. The central atrium at 1009 Lenox Ave. was transformed into a lively hub of activity with natural light and open spaces. A new staircase connected the previously inaccessible pedestrian bridge, creating easier access to the lower-level cafe and lounge areas. These updated amenities were important to accommodate the growing Millennial workforce that “tend to work long hours, so they want their workplace to be a second home,” Joshua Zinder, founding principal of JZA+D stated. “They don’t want to have to get back into their cars to go for a coffee…Workplace amenities are a big part of staying competitive.”
