A Kroger that is on track to open next month will hold the distinction of being the grocery chain’s largest store yet in Cincinnati.
At 150,000 square feet, it will also rank as Ohio’s second-largest Kroger. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the new store is scheduled to open Sept. 10 at Oakley Station, a 74-acre mixed-use development on the east side of I-71 and Ridge Rd. Its components include 302 apartments, 300,000 square feet of office space and 225,000 square feet of retail space.
Oakley Station’s developer, Vandercar Holdings Inc., announced the signing of Kroger as an anchor for the development’s retail section in 2013, and work on the store started in June 2014. Other retail highlights will include an apparel shop, a bistro, a wine and cheese shop, a bulk specialty store, a clinic and pharmacy, a self-serve gas station, a Fifth Third Bank and a Fred Meyer Jewelers. WCPO recently reported that Kroger held a job fair in July for positions at the new store.
