Berry, Appleman & Leiden LLP (BAL) has signed a lease with a joint venture between Align Real Estate and PCCP LLC, for 20,346 square feet inside the firm’s Walnut Creek Center in Walnut Creek, Calif. The owners acquired the office asset from Northwestern Mutual for $90 million last year, according to Yardi Matrix, and plan to begin work soon to renovate the 234,000-square-foot property.

Transit-oriented location

Located at 100 and 200 Pringle Ave., the property’s two structures sit off Interstate 680, approximately one block from the Walnut Creek BART station. The buildings include structured parking, a fitness center, a conference center and approximately 1,500 square feet of retail, according to Yardi Matrix data.

“BAL continues to grow in the Bay Area and our ability to expand into larger office space in Walnut Creek is a great opportunity. We are a people-focused firm and are delighted to offer more of our East Bay employees shorter commute times and close BART access in a location that has so much to offer. We look forward to investing in the local community,” said Carol Mays, COO of BAL, in a prepared statement.

Breck Lutz of Newmark Cornish & Carey represented the landlord in the transaction, with Rosen Realty Group and Avison Young acting on behalf of the tenant.
