- Jun 26, 2017
The Habitat Co., manager of the upcoming 23-story, 250-unit SixForty high-rise in Chicago’s River North, will begin leasing for the first residential units on July 1st. The lobby, the fifth-floor deck and several apartments are available for preview.
A five-star development team
Located at 640 W. Wells St., the building is the second joint project for JDL Developments and The Habitat Co., following South Loop’s 1000 South Clark. Experienced Chicago architecture firm Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture provided the design work.
Upon its September completion, SixForty will offer studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations ranging from 500 to 1,600 square feet as well as 8,000 square feet of retail space. Due to its location, it is expected to attract especially young professionals and entrepreneurs working in the downtown area.
“SixForty supplies the modern yet timeless designs residents seek, with units offering panoramic views of the city,” said Sheila Byrne, executive vice president of property management at The Habitat, in prepared remarks. “Top-of-the-line features and finishes provide the perfect backdrop for entertaining or relaxing after work. The clean, sleek design style also extends to the common areas as well, creating an inviting, sophisticated atmosphere for spending time with friends.”
Each unit will come with 9-foot 6-inch ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, plank flooring, walk-in showers and in-unit laundry. Rooftop amenities include a deck with a heated pool, hot tub and private cabanas offering 360-degree views of downtown Chicago, a demonstration kitchen, fireside library, dining suite and gaming lounge. At the fifth floor, amenities encompass a professional grade fitness center, golf simulator lounge and outdoor putting green, as well as a landscaped grill terrace with fire pits, outdoor TVs and ample seating area.
The building is just blocks from the storied Magnificent Mile, offering immediate access to shopping, dining and entertainment venues. Residents will be close to some of Chicago’s most popular neighborhoods such as the Loop, Gold Coast and Old Town. The Ontario Street, which corners the tower also offers easy access to interstates 90, 94 and 290 for those who need to commute.
