Lyft’s Customer Service HQ Moves to Music City
- Sep 29, 2015
Lyft has recently announced plans to relocate its customer support team from San Francisco to a new customer service headquarters in Nashville. The reason behind this decision regards Nashville’s lower cost of living and growing talent pool.
With average office rents in San Francisco doubling from $30 in 2013 to $70 per square foot this year, the move is part of a growing trend in Silicon Valley. Compared to San Francisco office rents, the average rent in downtown Nashville reaches $18-$22 per square foot, according to the publication.
Lyft’s plans for the Nashville office is to relocate current employees and to hire hundreds of new ones. Current employees choosing not to relocate could face layoffs. The move might include a lower pay in salary after one year in Nashville.
