Maxitrol Announces $3 Million Expansion Plans

Maxitrol, a Southfield, MI-based manufacturer of natural gas control systems, announced plans to renovate and expand its corporate headquarters at 23555 Telegraph Road, where the company has 55 employees.

Currently, Maxitrol occupies an eight-plus acre site that includes the company’s Administrative, Sales, Customer Service, Tooling & Product Prototyping, and Manufacturing Design Departments, as well as the headquarters building—a 34,000-square-foot facility designed in 1960 by noted architect Ivan Cuthbert. In order to meet the company’s continued technological and growth demands, the site underwent several small-sized renovation projects through the early 1970s and, in 2005, a new laboratory for testing and analysis of large commercial and residential gas appliances was built on the corporate grounds.

With the announced $2.5 to $3 million investment, Maxitrol plans to expand its existing headquarters from 34,000 square feet to 45,000 square feet, while the office and lab areas will be renovated. The 11,000-square-foot addition will feature social areas for employees and expanded research and development areas, as well as development, technical training and testing and engineering space. According to an official statement released by Maxitrol, construction at the site will start in August under plans designed by Birmingham-based architecture firm Landry + Newman.

Apart from the Southfield headquarters, Maxitrol also has three manufacturing facilities in Southeast Michigan and a branch office in Fort Worth, Texas.
