New York—Robert Swade has been appointed CEO of Grace Hotels, effective Sept. 1, 2016. The announcement coincides with the company’s significant expansion program currently underway, which includes 15 properties open or under construction across four continents.

Swade will step down from his current role as Group CEO at the Jumeriah Group to join Grace Hotels. For the past four years, he was responsible, among others, for the Jumeriah brand’s global expansion strategy and helped build a strong portfolio of future hotel projects for the company.

“Robert Swade has played a critical role in building and enhancing the Jumeirah brand, and steering it through the inevitable complexities of large-scale growth,” Constantine Logothetis, executive vice chairman of the Libra Group, the parent company of Grace Hotels, said in a statement. “Grace Hotels is fortunate to be benefitting from his wisdom, track record and international perspective as it embarks on the next phase of its global journey.”

In his new position with Grace Hotels, Swade will be responsible for developing the brand and expanding its global footprint. The group has a number of developments currently in the pipeline, including Grace Marrakech in Morocco, La Dolfina Grace in Argentina and the Grace St. Moritz in Switzerland.

“I am proud to be joining Grace Hotels as its CEO,” stated Swade. “I have watched the group’s evolution with interest and I am impressed by its commitment to bring new innovations to luxury hospitality. Ever since Grace Hotels entered the luxury boutique hotel market in 2007, it has been winning awards and breaking new ground. Grace has a very special portfolio of properties and a clear vision for future growth, and I am delighted to bring my experience to the team.”
