Mike Demetriou Climbs the Corporate Ladder
- May 06, 2016
Chicago—Mike Demetriou was recently promoted from chief operating officer (COO) to president at Baum Realty Group. Demetriou will succeed David Baum, who will continue to serve as Baum’s chief executive officer (CEO). In his new position, he will focus on the strategic growth of the twenty-five year old firm, as well as management of day-to-day operations.
Demetriou joined Baum as COO in 2012, after serving as a real estate attorney at the global law firms of Sidley Austin, and Dentons, respectively. During his tenure as COO, the company has added many new team members, including an entire brokerage team focused on the sale of net leased assets, an exceedingly successful division.
“He’s really raised the bar for our entire team and on behalf of our clients; he’s so much better than I ever was. It was an easy decision,” said David Baum in prepared remarks.
“I’m really proud to take the helm of this organization. It is especially rewarding given that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year. I am tasked to lead a team that is already operating at a high level, and I inherit a culture and reputation that would make any executive jealous,” said Demetriou.
