Multiplex to Build Major Sydney Office Tower
- May 14, 2018
Winten Property Group has hired Multiplex to deliver 1 Denison St., a $1 billion office tower being built in North Sydney, Australia. The new contract comes a few months after Multiplex completed the 182-key Curio Collection by Hilton in Sydney.
The 37-level tower, scheduled for completion in 2020, will become the largest and tallest building within the North Sydney CBD, offering more than 640,000 square feet of premium office space with a two-level lifestyle precinct and basement parking for 225 cars.
“We are delighted to be appointed to this project, which is set to revitalize the North Sydney CBD and deliver a new landmark to the skyline,” David Ghannoum, Multiplex’s regional managing director, said in a prepared statement.
Architectural firm Bates Smart designed the project. One of the company’s signature features is a public forecourt area with a fusion of urban structures and natural elements, as well as iconic retail, restaurants and bars over two levels. 1 Denison St. will offer natural light and views from all sides with panoramic Sydney Harbour views from upper levels. It’s also been designed to meet 5 Star Green Star, 5 Star NABERS and Wellness Rated standards.
The design also boasts contiguous floorplates of 21,527 square feet, which would represent the largest available in the CBD. The floorplate also features flexible raised floors to create dynamic interconnected spaces across and between floors. Nine Network has committed to an approximate 190,500-square-foot lease in the building for its newsroom and studios.
“We are in advanced discussions with a range of tenants keen to join Channel Nine at what will become North Sydney’s new business and lifestyle hub,” Stuart Vaughan, Winten Property Group’s development director, said in prepared remarks. “Leasing announcements will be made within the month.”
In January, Multiplex landed a contract from the New South Wales Government to develop a 1 million-square-foot central acute services building as part of the $1 billion Westmead Redevelopment hospital project just outside Sydney in Westmead, New South Wales, Australia.
