Choice Hotels International has entered an agreement with Integrated 32 West Randolph LLC (an affiliate of Murphy Asset Management LLC) to develop a 198-key, 21-story Cambria hotel & suites in downtown Chicago. Located at 32 W. Randolph St. in the Loop, the new hotel will sit atop the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre, and will make its debut in September 2017.
John Murphy, president of Murphy Asset Management, originally planned to redevelop the building into 230 apartments, but decided to switch to a hotel after considering the rising supply in the central business district, according to the Chicago Real Estate Daily.
The new Cambria will be conveniently situated in the heart of the city’s central business district, close to popular attractions such as Block Thirty Seven, Millennium Park, the John Hancock Center, and the Chicago Riverwalk. Large employers headquartered in the area include Boeing, Exelon Corp., Archer Daniels Midland and United Continental Holdings.
Hotel amenities will include more than 2,500 square feet of meeting space, a contemporary bistro, and valet parking for all guests.
“Last year, over 50 million people visited Chicago, which is one of America’s most iconic cities and one of the country’s largest business centers, making it the perfect city for the rapidly expanding Cambria brand,” said Michael Murphy, senior vice president of upscale brands at Choice Hotels International. “The Cambria hotel & suites Chicago will bring a rare find to the city—upscale service at an affordable price.”
